Born near white beaches where seas kiss the sand
Born Sonja Beatrix of God’s Promised Land

Named for the wisdom and joy that you brought
Acclaimed as your gamesmanship skills were soon sought
Famed for your generous spirit and heart
Love was your teacher and love played its part

A father’s companion; a mother’s delight
Your brothers ensured that you knew how to fight
A Wild Child beguiled by life’s laughter and song
Accepting each challenge as it came along

Some friendships flourish while some fade away
The drumming grew fainter; the banjo held sway
A bright future beckoned – love’s door stood ajar
Life is a safari – you followed your star

Then came the day when you knew you must go
To a strange pagan country cloaked under deep snow
‘Are people so different?’ you wondered anew
You learned to love us - and we learned to love you

Your heart split asunder when your lover died
Now you are united - we all share your pride
In the fun and the sunshine from your rainbow nation
